The Institute of Electrical Power Systems is a stand-alone organizational unit of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of the Graz University of Technology.
The Institute of Electrical Power Systems is responsible for the teaching, research, development and scientific studies concerning technical aspects of electrical power systems and power supply systems. Special research fields, research focuses, and many national and EU projects are only a few examples of the Institute’s extremely active and successful research.
Groundwork for fulfilling these tasks can be found in development and usage of mathematic simulation programs and conducting measurement technology based research for the analysis and planning of electrical power supply systems in the fields of production, transmission and dispersion. Besides electrical aspects, such as technical feasibility in principle and practical realization in terms of an universal university wide approach the accompanying inspection and implementation of technical-economic optimization and technical-legal aspects of electrical energy systems as well as matters of ecological compatibility, sustainability and social acceptability are to be taken into account.
The research on the Institute of Electrical Power Systems includes state-of-the-art scientific methods and advanced tools for measurement and calculation. The scientific work at the institute is guided by the principles of objectivity, impartiality and commitment to the truth.
The content of the studies and collaborations ranges from research projects via contract research up to research partnerships. The services include consulting and scientific assistance and support. The results of the established work are expert advices, studies, expertise, planning guidelines, feasibility studies and measurements in connection with their evaluation.
